This project will involve the use of fitbit activity bands to monitor sleep duration and quality in undergraduate participants over a two week period. At the end of the two week period, a combination of self-report and physiological measures of anxiety will be obtained.
Potential research assistants must have a minimum of 10 hours per week to devote to the project, be able to enroll in Psychology 490 for 2 or 3 credit hours, and must have a predictable enough schedule to firmly commit to specific hours of laboratory time. We also prefer that students have successfully completed Psychology 302Wi (Experimental Psychology) and Psychology 407 (Cognitive Psychology).
The project is currently in development. Data collection will occur this spring (Spring 2015).
Contact Mr. Murphy by email if you are interested in being a part of this project. There is no compensation for student researchers other than receiving a letter grade if you enroll in Psychology 490.
Student researchers will participate in data collection, data scoring, and data analysis. Students wishing to present at the UMKC Undergraduate Research Symposium will have the opportunity to develop independent research questions from this project for that purpose.
