    Description

The distribution of Co replacing Mn in coexisting manganese oxide minerals may be a function of temperature. I would like to explore this relationship and apply it to the Cu-Zn-Co-Mn ores of the Boleo deposit at Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur, Mexico

    Qualifications
Solid background in inorganic chemistry or geology with some geochemistry. Good with instrumental methods of analysis (training provided).

    Project Timeline
Spring semester, 2015, possibly July, 2015

    Duites
Prepare rock samples for analysis: cutting with diamond saw, making polished mounts for SEM/EDS (elemental analysis) and reflected light microscopy, running powder X ray diffraction analysis (training provided), processing data (graphs), and reading literature on previous work that has been done.
