Research Description
Cancer is the one of the deadliest diseases for human beings. Cancer survival is highly dependent on the stage of diagnosis. Early diagnosis can lead to more effective treatment and better patient outcomes. What if we can detect cancer in their precancerous stages? My current research focuses on applying infrared spectroscopy, imaging, spatial multiomics, machine learning and deep learning for the early detection of oral cancer. Our goal is to detect high-risk precancers and to prevent them from becoming cancer. If we’re able to detect it early on, there’s more we can do about it, and the treatment is more effective. The system we are developing will provide objective and quantitative diagnostic information and facilitate clinicians to make better management plans for their patients.
