We are examining the cell wall biosynthesis pathway is several bacterial strains, in particular to examine the response of cell wall intermediate levels to antibiotic exposure in antibiotic sensitive and resistant strains. Cell are collected, lysed, and UDP-linked and amino acid intermediated quantified by HPLC-MS.

At present no stipend is available, but this may change if funding permits. The School of Pharmacy does not have a course credit mechanism, but a students home department may have a mechanism that the student can use.
Primarily to help graduate students grow, treat, and collect bacterial samples. Prepare bacterial extracts for analysis. Perform amino acid derivatization reaction. Prepare samples for HPLC-MS analysis. Run LC-MS analyses, and collect and summarize results from these experiments.
