Description
This is a paid training program for early college students interested in STEM and community service. It runs from September to July. The goal of the program is for college student participants to guide high school students through an inquiry project studying urban environmental hazards like Urban Heat Island, Urban Flooding, and Air Pollution.
Location
UMKC Campus and some other field locations
Qualifications
First or second year of collge, recent transfer students, who are enrollled at a Kansas City metro university. Must be interested in STEM and community service.
Project Timeline
Recruiting in September 2022, and September 2023. Participants are part of the program for 10 months.
Logistics and Compensation
Participants are paid a $3k stipend over the 10 month program. September to May time commitment is 6 hrs per month and during the summer is 10 hrs per week.
Duites
Partiicipate in biweekly training sessions, develop an inquiry activity for high school students, lead high school students through program during summer session.
